Sustainable Sourcing: Our Commitment to Ethical Catappa Leaf Export from Indonesia
POSTED ON DEC 4, 2025 | TOPIC: SUSTAINABILITY & ETHICS
In the global botanical trade, ethical and sustainable sourcing is no longer optional it is essential. Our commitment at PT Aloka Cipta Mandiri is to ensure that our Indian Almond Leaves (Catappa) are harvested in a way that respects the environment and supports our local communities in Indonesia.
Wild-Harvested and Sustainable: The Difference from Farming
All of Catappa Leaves are wild-harvested. This means they are allowed to fall naturally from the tree and are only collected once they reach their peak red/brown maturity. We never pick green leaves. This practice is inherently sustainable as it supports the tree's natural cycle and does not contribute to deforestation or excessive pruning.
- Ecological Integrity: Wild harvesting maintains natural biodiversity and habitat integrity, unlike intensive monoculture farming.
- High Tannin Yield: Leaves that fall naturally have the highest concentration of beneficial tannins.
- Zero Waste: We only collect what the trees naturally shed.
Ethical Export and Community Impact in Indonesia
Our bulk sourcing practices are designed to have a positive impact. We partner directly with local collectors, eliminating middlemen and ensuring fair compensation for their labor. This model fosters transparency and promotes ethical export.
- Fair Wages: Ensuring local collectors receive fair compensation for their effort.
- Transparent Supply Chain: Providing our wholesale buyers with clear documentation regarding the exact sourcing region.
- Premium Value: By focusing on ethical and hygienic processing, we deliver premium value to both the community and the global consumer.
